Ok I haven't posted in a while I have had a small nightmare obtaining soap making oils and I have moved to a new supplier as the first one wasn't particulary impressive.

Anyways I have read that if you use KOH (potassium hydroxide) it will tend to make liquid soap.

As my wife and myself are still pretty new to this, is there any starter liquid soap recipies that I can use and what things do I need to be aware of?

Thanks.

KOH does make liquid soap. www.brambleberry.com have an E book with several reliable recipes in there. Easy concise instructions, compact but will certainly get you started.

Liquid soapmaking isn't a good place for a beginner to start. It would be better to get several batches of CP and then HP under your belt first. Those will use sodium hydroxide as your lye. For research though, check out Soap Queen's info. Anne-Marie did an ebook about it that's very practical. Other books have info, like Alicia Grosso's "Everything Soapmaking Book" and Catherine Failor's "Making Natural Liquid Soaps." Potassium hydroxide is used for liquid soapmaking. If you keep going with it, cream soaps use both potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide in careful proportions. Again, you should become more comfortable with both cold-process and hot-process soapmaking before attempting to make liquid soaps. Maybe others will have more information. Happy soaping!

Oops! forgot to mention Summer Bee Meadow. Use their lye calculator for liquid soapmaking. :)

What exactly is a cream soap? What does it look like? I've seen "cream soap" written someplace else recently and was wondering exactly what it was!

So, it's dispensed via a pump, correct? Sounds nice!

Bar soap you don't need a preservative. What about liquid soap or cream soap?

Question...I know natural is a relative word, but I make my soaps or TRY to make my soaps as natural as possible. I'd like to make liquid soap that way as well. So stating that...here is the question: What is the best preservative to use that is as close to natural as possible for liquid and cream soaps?
