FIGURING OUT SOAP MOLD SIZE VS OIL BATCH AMOUNTS

I know my title is a tad confusing (hey! I'm a total confusing person.. whatcha expect? lol..) What I am trying to figure out is that if I want a loaf mold to have soaps the size of 3.5" x 2.5" x 1", how do I know the size of a 1 lb, 3 lb, etc size mold? I want to make new ones for myself, and I need to know if the mold should be 12" long, 15" long, etc. Is there a site that will SIMPLY for us DUH's figure out how to make the right sized mold?

The other part of the equation is in order to make 1 lb, 3 lbs, etc of soap, how do I figure out what the % of oil vs lye/water used to make those sizes? The lye calculator does not give you that option to choose if you want to make 1/3/5 etc lbs of soap. This would be such a helpful part of the calculator, first being able to choose your batch size, then choose if you will be using grams/ounce/percentage in oils.

Anyone out there in teach soap world able to help this total dumb DUH? (And no, I'm not blonde! lol... no blonde jokes allowed here..)

It might be easier just to decide how many bars of soap you want from each mold and go from there. Example: you want 12 bars of soap. Your soap is 1" thick so your mold would have inside measurements of 3.5 wide x 12 long x 2.5 inches tall. Your volume would be those measurements times .4 (3.5x12x2.5x.4) so you would need 42 ounces to fill the mold.
If you usually do 35% water, then you multiply 42 oz by .35 to get 14.7 oz of water; the rest would be your oil weight: 42-14.7=27.3 oz oils
This is just a general formula, but hopefully it will give you a starting point.
