Has anyone ever used one of the Pampered Chef bread tubes as a soap mold for CP soap? I looked them up and they are made out of Tinned Steel. If I were to use one, should I cover it with parchment paper first? I found a bunch of them at GoodWill for $0.99 each and thought they would make fun shapes. Now I am beginning to question if I can use them or not. Don't want to ruin a whole batch of soap. I am new to making soap, just had our first goat baby born and am milking his momma once a day...

Welcome! You can probably use them if you line them. Metals other than stainless steel react with CP soap and can turn it black.

Tinned steel is definitely NOT safe in direct contact of CP soap. Either completely line it or arrange a plastic bag over the inside.

I have those molds... for bread. I could not imagine lining them... at least not the star one. Let me know how it turns out.
?? How come the baby goat does not get to nurse from the mother? And do you have a photo of the baby?

The baby goat is only nursing from one side, so I'm milking the other side to keep her from getting lopsided. :D I will post a picture of him and his momma when I get home tonight.thanks for all the replies! This newbie really appreciates it!

Aww!!!!!!! He's adorable.

Our neighbor has goats and I love volunteering to take care of them when she has to be out of town.

Attempted to use the Pampered Chef bread tube today...lined it with parchment paper. I decided to use the heart shaped one so it wouldn't be so tedious. That was an adventure in itself. Put it right into the freezer for an hour. It has been sitting on the shelf for about 5 to 6 hours. So far so good. Will try to cut on Friday morning. Will post pictures once I get it done.

Here is a picture of the recently cut soap:
