Teach Soap

I was all set to do a batch of salt bars with BB Tropical Vacation, then I ran across a bunch of reviews that say it is one that makes soap-on-a-stick. The reviews are all several years old that say that, and then there are a couple of newer ones that say it's fine for CP. And I've seen some pretty soaps in the Cold Process section of this forum that are scented with it and they look fine. BB's site says it accelerates trace. What say you all? Should I be careful and do a batch without additives for the first time with this FO, or go ahead with it and make the salt bars (I don't plan to use any colorants)? I've never made salt bars before, but it seems like I could work quickly to get the salt in there.

I don't know the answer but this is EXACTLY what I had planned for my next soap session!

I went to a soap seminar this weekend and one of the things the mentioned about "finicky" FO's was to add them to the oils so you can monitor the trace better and not lose control of the batch.

You could ask on BB's Facebook page. They are good about answering questions there pretty quickly and going out of their way to find the answer for you.

I used this FO last year and just checked my notes. I used a tallow base and soaped around 115 deg. with full water. I had moderate acceleration, but was still able to do a simple 3 color swirl at med-thick trace. Hope this helps!

I usually soap a bit warmer than that, so maybe I will try both using a cooler temp and adding the FO in with the base oils. I will let you guys know how it goes! Thanks for the suggestions.
