Teach Soap

I would like to make some soap using lard. Does anyone have a formula or recipe they would be willing to share? Have made many batches using palm, coconut and various vegetable oils and am curious what one to leave out and replace with lard. Have heard thet lye makes a really nice soap.

When I started using lard in my recipes, I just replaced the palm oil with lard and ran it through a lye calculator. The properties are very similar.

Thanks for all the great suggestions and research material. I've done a lot of research since I started making soap about 4 years ago. This is the forum I go to most for info because all of you are so knowledgeable and helpful. I really just wanted to try a little something new. I know there are many oils that will give my soap the same properties as lard and I have a lot of oils, but feel the need to experiment.

Another nice way to make soap is do as Linda (and I) do, substituting the lard for palm, but split the palm amount between lard and tallow.
