Hi all, made a batch of aloe Vera and sea kelp today and also sea salt soap. Did as recipe said and put as much salt as oils in my batch, 1200gms, only left for 2 hours and when I tried to cut it, it just crumbled. I think maybe too much salt? This is my first try at this soap. I will keep it and try to think of a way to sell it...... Nightmare! Attempting swirl soap again tomorrow. I seem to be able to manage that. :wink:

Salt soaps usually work a bit better in individual molds. You could also try using less salt (I only do 50-60%), try CPOP, consider a different type of salt (I really like Kosher or just plain table salt) because some are more stable than other, and if you are doing a loaf make sure you aren't leaving it in that long. Salt soaps set up fast. Like within a few hours. If you wait too long to cut, it is going to fall apart.

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your soap, and if it is your first time to make it, I wouldn't recommend selling it. Hang on to it to use it yourself to see how you like it and what changes you might want to make to the recipe yourself personally.
