Is there any difference in Coconut 76 oils whether liq in a bottle or solid in a jar?

Coconut oil 76 should be solid if it is in a room that is under 76* F. If it is a liquid coconut oil then it is called fractionated. Different SAP value than the solid oil.

When buying coconut oil from non soaping suppliers, what is the best way to determine whether it is 76 or 92 degree coconut?

Coconut Oil 92 has slightly harder bar than 76, but slightly less lather. But the differences are barely noticeable.
Fractionated coconut oil on the other hand is quite different. I'm not sure how it would shorten curing time though. I've experimented with it at about 20% in soap and it took about 2 weeks longer for it to harden.

Thanks, Hazel, for correcting me. I was only thinking about 76 CO and 92 CO, not FCO. Apparently some people claim to see a difference between 76 and 92 CO, but others don't. When I was debating between 76 and 92 I was told either could be used with pretty much the same result. I've only tried 76 myself.

Okay, Hazel.....now you're going to talk up FCO and make me NEED this oil :D!!!! I was all nice and content with my 76 CO....until your posts. You keep mentioning how great it is, all the sweet products to make with it, how reasonably priced it is, all of it's benefits.....AND you're talking about items I'm dying to try to make (lotions, creams, scrubs, etc.).
I'm going to pretend that I didn't read your post and try to be content with my 76 CO.......but I don't think it will work..... When hubby asks what the problem is, I will blame it on you :P
