Any reason not to use organic almond milk in CP soap...It does have some vitamins added to it so probably not as pure as making it yourself? If coconut oil is in solid form can one assume it will work in a recipe that calls for Coconut oil 76.?

Coconut oil and coconut milk are two different things. Coconut oil saponifies. Milk is water based and is calculated into the water portion of your recipe.

I've never tried almond milk in soap, but why not? Use it for the water part and see how it goes. As for the coconut oil, I weigh it out in solid form (I use coconut 76), then melt it before adding the lye.

My last bag of coconut oil from BB arrived completely melted, and it took it two days to thicken back up. I had a tub of shea butter arrive pretty bad too, coming from only about 3 hours away from me, from a supplier in the southern part of the state. I just couldn't get it to work in whipped body butter even after letting it sit in our A/C for a couple of days. Such a hot summer in the south already!

I know AM did a post about making CP with almond milk not too long ago, I think they did make it themselves, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't use some you bought from the grocery store.

And on the flip side of the world, I had to stab my coconut oil with a knife to get it into a pot to melt it down just so I didn't bust a tricep trying to measure it out!

I made a batch with almond milk a few weeks ago. If you don't want pulp in it I suggest straining the milk before you start, I would have lost 1/2 the amont straining it afterwards, and that 1/2 would have been full of part of my lye! I kind of wanted the pulp mind you! It wasn't too bad to work with either, no nasty stink when mixing it with the lye. I did the frozen milk method with mine. The only issue I had was that my lye solution only got to about 80*F, but it still soaped beautifully!

I'd have to go hunting for that around this snow void of a state. I did end up getting one of those plastic knives that never look like would cut a lettuce leaf things. After the first "woopsie slip" of the butchers knife, my thumbs took over and demanded a safer utensil!

The coco butter was a whole other world of firm!!

We seem to flip between 90F and 60F here. And, of course, the 90F days are the sunny ones, when I'm out working my bees, and hoping I don't get heat stroke!
