Teach Soap

I'm hoping for a second opinion as to whether my conditioner is vegan. My main concern is the Germall Plus (propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate). Byproducts or refining ingredients could be culprits, too. This is probably an obvious question, but my brain is super-fried tonight and I'd rather ask than be mistaken!

Here is the ingredient list:

distilled water, behentrimonium methosulfate (from rapeseed oil), cetyl alcohol (from rapeseed oil), butylene glycol (from rapeseed oil), vegetable glycerin, simmondsia chinesis (jojoba) oil, DL-Panthenol (vitamin B5), prunus dulcis (almond) oil, hydrolyzed silk, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, fragrance.

I may be ignorant but isn't silk an animal (insect) product? I presume vegan is the same everywhere
Honey or beeswax can't be used here in any vegan product, as animal (insect) product, even tho harvesting doesn't hurt/kill them!
I would assume based on this, that silk is the same?

Besides the silk, urea is urine, from something animal, so I assume that would be out, too.

Urea does not actually mean urine. Urine contains urea, just like our sweat. Diazolidinyl urea comes from a chemical reaction involving allantoin and formaldehyde in sodium hydroxide. Which then it is neutralized.

While allantoin can be found in the excretory organs of animals, it can also be found in plants. More importantly, it can be synthetically created, which is where most, if not all, of it comes from that's used in cosmetics.

Silk is very not vegan.

P.S. Allantoin is excreted by humans and higher primates, so it can not be used in the production of diazolidinyl urea.

Thanks! I always figured that they called it "urea" because it was produced using urine (like Premarin, I think, extracted from mare's urine). (Being a beekeeper, veganism is out for me!)
