Teach Soap

So I was working on some American Flag designs when I realized the only red pigment I had was a brick red and it was just too dark for red white and blue. After I had mixed a big bowl of it... Then I remembered I had a small bottle of Bacon scented FO - mixed that in the brick red, melted another bowl of white and two-handed poured into a 12 square mold! Will pop it out in the morning and take pics - the two colors swirled together definitely gives it that bacon colored streak... But PHEW does the kitchen smell! LOL It definitely has a very bbq smokey salty scent. I personally don't care for it, but thought it'd be funny novelty for guys. Going to wrap one of these and a Guinness bar for my fiance.

Made 12 x 5oz bars using 1 ounce Bacon FO and BOY are they strong smelling!

Things I learned

1. maybe less FO next time
2. don't get so excited to take pictures and share with friends that you forget to spray alcohol on the bubbles, argh!!
3. make sure stick is touching bottom of mold for swirling - the top of the mold "bottom of the soap" got the look I wanted, the bottom of the mold "top of the soap" doesn't have the same look.

I thought about just pouring the two colors into one bowl, swirl, then pouring into the mold, but was afraid they'd over blend.

And just randomly non-bacon related, also made "eyeballs" from BB's sphere mold. I drilled the holes open wider to pour because the soap kept cooling too fast in the injector tools. Appropriately scented with "love spell" Going to tag the bag with "I only have eyes for you" Hahaha... Who needs to wait for October? These are definitely going in the guest bathroom!

I bet if you used bacon grease you might get the same smell. What's with bacon lately? The eye balls are cute.

A friend just e-mailed me a recipe for bacon grease CP soap - I didn't know if the scent would come out though?


Bacon and cupcakes and mustaches... it's an obsession! Hah!

My mother made soap from bacon drippings from the kitchen. I would say the scent definitely came through.

The bacon turned out great! I love bacon, but not sure I could bathe with it, haha. The eyeballs are adorable too! Is that with the two-piece sphere mold? I have had it for a long while, but have never used it.
