Teach Soap

I've made HP in a crock pot, is it alright to make it in a double boiler? My crock is in Canada, but my DB is right here.... Not sure what temperature to keep it at, always just use "low" on the crock and turn it off once it starts turning in on itself. Any tips? Cautions? Jonesing to make some HP.

Hi Heather,

I've never even thought about using a double boiler...sounds kind of scarey
I just use a cheap 6 quart Crockpot.
Cost about $15.

Is there any place around you that you could pick one up cheap?

I always do it in a double boiler. I do it on low-medium (I have a gas stove). You pretty much have to stir it constantly.

Yeah, double boiler is good for HP too!

You can put it in the oven too I believe?

Thanks guys! I could buy one Dave, but then when mine gets here from Canada I'd have an extra, and I'm a horrible packrat, so I'd keep it. Trying to get away from my hoarding tendancies (except when it comes to bath and body ingredients!).

Try Goodwill or a similar thrift store, can sometimes find one there redonk cheap. Then you can just take it back there when you get your old one back. =D

I actually get emotionally attached to inanimate objects, which sounds funny, but it makes it traumatic to give stuff away or throw it out. Its ridiculous, but its what my brain does Just glad I can mae HP in my shiny new DB!
