I want to try it but I just want to solicit opinions/thoughts/experience on using a rebatch kit? Anyone willing to share?

If you're getting it from Bramble Berry I'm sure it will be good. I've used their rebatch shreds before and had no problem. The soap is usually fresh so you hardly need any water (if at all) added when melting it.

I've gotten a lot of rebatch from BB. I really like it! Very easy, and you can make little batches to test scent blends and the like.

I was thinking about trying to re-batch my first batch of CP...horrible looking, chopped out of the mold soap and mangled :)

Do I need to wait til the 4-6 weeks is done? Then just shred, melt, scent and pour...correct? Why would I want to add water to it? Does it then have to cure again for 4 weeks?

Thanks

You don't have to wait to use rebatched soap but if you've added anything to the rebatch(oils/butters), the soap may be a little soft so waiting can allow the rebatched soap to harden and thus last longer.

I made a couple of bars of shave soap for DH & added castor, babassu oil, clay and way too much water and it came out way too soft (mangled getting it out of the mold) so it had to cure for almost a month to harden up.....it was still usable tho.

I don't plan on adding anything to it...just want to fix the mess the mold made :)

Why is it ok to use it so soon when its not done its original CP cure? I did do the zap test on this batch which was fine but I thought it was drying on the skin if it didn't sure properly!

I did a rebatch at Christmas time on an overheated soap. I did add an extra ounce of grapeseed oil to my melted rebatch soap, stick blended and poured into individual molds. It setup very quickly and was able to be removed from the molds within 6 hours. I still let it cure for 2 months (mostly because I was saving it for my family for the holiday). Although I do not have to rebatch very often I do find that the sooner I do it the better the process turns out for me.
