So after I made a batch of soap last night I popped it in a 170° oven. It had orange five fold and rosemary EO in it. I colored it orange and green and I wanted it to gel so the colors would really pop. I watched it and watched it to see signs of gelling and it seemed to take forever. When I finally saw that it started to gel I turned the oven off and let it stay in there insulated. When I came back a little while later it looked like it was leaking oil so I grabbed it quickly from the oven and let it rest on the counter to get away from the heat. It looked very oily on top but I left it alone to see what it would do with some time. BTW when I poured it into my mold it had definitely reached trace. It was a beautiful in-the-pot-swirl pour and everything seemed to be perfect. Now this morning it is still oily on top. I removed one of the bars from the mold to inspect it closer and it has a lye pocket on the bottom (zap test confirmed). I'm so bummed! What happened? My first thought is that it overheated and the oils got confused and started to revert back to their original state and the lye separated and formed pockets. Should I avoid CPOP for this reason? I've never had it happen before...
