It's a soft oil. For soap I would not go any higher then 10% and compensate for it with harder oils. Use the recipe you already have and just recalcuate it.

This recipe is nice. Its almost 6lbs

Apricot kernal 17.5oz
Coconut 76 20.56oz
Olive oil 34.56oz
Palm 20.56oz

water 35.40oz
lye 12.69

I used soapcalc with a 38% water ratio and an 8 %superfat.

Made this last weekend, but my friend has made it before and says its the only soap that doesnt make her itch. Once made it goes in a preheated oven 170 degrees, oven turned off, soap covered, we left it in the oven until the following evening, so about 24 hours.

You can add coloring or fragrance, we added jasmine EO, and cinnamon citrus clove EO. A total of 13.5 tsp and it did not make a dent, so I would advise more if you want a scent. We also added
6T carrot root powder
and turmeric for color. It was a pale peachy color.

Jasmine EO? Like real jasmine absolute? That must be some pricey soap!

spam sandwich

why you don't want to take someone's recipe off the internet, unless you are familiar with the craft! not everyone tells the straight scoop.

flavapor, go take a look at Liberty Naturals. They carry excellent quality essential oils and absolutes.
http://libertynatural.com/
Their jasmine for 1 oz. is 104.42
$24 for 1 oz. of jasmine is either a fragrance or highly adultarated essential oil. I believe you got taken.

I ended up making lotion bars (for the first time) where I used the apricot kernel oil and it turned out really well! Thanks for all the help!

I love apricot kernel oil in my soaps! The usage rate is anywhere from 6-13% ppo from taking a quick look at my recipes. It's softness can be compensated for in your recipes. Last year I made up a sort of general recipe. I switched out a single soft ingredient to test how much I liked different soft oils (yup checked for changes in lye amount!) and apricot kernel beat out avocado and almond for me. :D It's definitely worth a try if you have dry skin.

PS Hi! I've been lurking in the forum for months so it's fun to actually have something to say that may help someone else out. Thanks to all of you for your generosity with your time and experience!

This one is the simplest and very nice (read well-behaved).

Apricot Kernel oil - 5.9%
Castor oil - 11.8%
Coconut oil - 29.4%
Olive oil, pomace - 23.5
Palm oil - 29.4%

Yup, I know it's over 10% castor oil but it's still a very nice soap and hard too. I use it in my Oatmeal, Milk and Honey soap with GM powder, honey, and ground oatmeal in it. Hope this helps!
