Teach Soap

I'm confused. I just read on another forum that Goatmilk soap should only use acrylic molds with out insulating because of heat buildup. And if you have to use wooden mold, place in freezer .
Any advice?

When I've made milk soap, I've always frozen my milk first. Completely frozen in ice cube trays. When mixing my cubes with lye, I constantly stir so the milk doesn't burn until the milk's completely melted.
I don't cover my molds when doing milk soap with any of my molds (plastic or wood). But I've never had to put any in the freezer. I haven't had any volcanos from them (*knock on wood*).

You can make goat's milk soap in any soap mold you like. I use HDPE mold because I prefer for my soaps not to gel. Wood acts as an insulator, so most soaps gel in there.

I only have silicone and wood molds and I prefer the wood molds for my milk soaps because they are slab molds rather than loaf molds. There is more surface area so the milk soap stays cooler than in a log mold.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I use a silicone log mold all the time with my goats milk. I mostly use powdered goats milk, and have to be careful how I insulate or force gel. A lot will also depend on my recipe and the FO\EO that I am using. I think it mostly comes down to experience, experimentation and keeping good notes!
