Okay, two things.
First off I am a clutz. I fall walking up the stairs and down the stairs. (it's a wonder how I did gymnastics for so long...)
Anyways I have been lucky to not have any clutz moments while soaping.. until yesterday. I accidently knocked over a bottle of glycerin into my oils. I'm not talking a tablespoon. I'm talking like 4-5oz of it. I don't waste so I went ahead and soaped with it. It worked, um, okay but it had a like an oil looking layer on the top when I poured. I'm a lot worried about what it's going to do. Any hints or reassurance?
The second thing is I keep trying for a cool looking textured top but don't succeed. When try it just looks stupid and messy. Any tips on how to make the top look good?

That "oil" on top is most likely the glycerin. You could just skim it all off the top and hopefully your soap will harden.

What kind of texture are you going for? Something like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPyyXD902pA

How big of a batch? that much extra glycerin can make your soap soft or sweat glycerin, making it sticky. For texture, you need to have your soap at a thick trace. Then you can play around with the top.

SoapBuddy- It was only a 16 oz batch of coconut oil soap. I just went to go take a peek at it and the soap looks like it's oozing out of its pores. It's funny and gross at the same time. Pretty colors though! I'm thinking of maybe just dabbing lightly to remove some of the glycerin. :?:
(P.S. I love your site! It's reall well done!)
I'm guessing I don't soap it at a thick of enough trace. I usually go pretty light cause I like to play with swirls. So I will try mixing it more next time!
Genny - LOVE the video!! THANKS!! :D

For swirls, thin trace is best. For textured tops, you need to either get to a thick trace, or pour and wait til the soap is in thick trace in the mold. Then you can texture the tops.
