Teach Soap

I'd love to get your comments about this tutorial in the Comments section of the blog - would you try to make this soap after looking at the instructions? Did I do a good job, bad job, need more explaining etc?

oh my gosh yes! these are sooo inventive! i was dreaming of something like this, how funny to see it come alive. i just bought my first 4 lbs of soap and have created some fun soap/gifts. can't wait to order more and get creative! thanks for the inspiration!

I went back to read through the entire series and day one takes you to day two but day two does NOT take you to day three (you need the exact url).

I did try it. Aside from my bad cutting, traced a fleur de lis, but apparently it's difficult rounding corners with my exacto. One thing that I was shocked is that I got tiny bubbles around some of my inserts. I got my boyfriend's opinion and he said he would never use "black" soap or soap that has black in it. Hmmm... I made four, guess they are going to be freebees. I almost want to remelt, but not keep on getting the muddy gray that I suspect I will. I think the tutorial was fun, I may do it with cookie cutters next time.

You could also use an other color - Dark Green, or Dark Blue and not Black, for those who are picky.

I like the tuturial too and thought the instructions were very easy to follow. I liked the suggestions of the other bloggers of using different colors instead of black for different occasions, and using cookie cutters instead of cutting out a pattern with an exacto knife in the black soap. Very cool! I'm definitely going to try this one out.
