Teach Soap

After reading so many cautions on this forum regarding lye and glass, I decided to purchase a new container to mix my lye in. Just wanted to check with those "in the know" to see if this one is okay?
The label says "made from BPA-FREE Eastman Tritan copolyester". It also says it is break-resistant and dishwasher safe. The container is shaped like a pitcher and looks like glass (clear), feels lighter like plastic, but doesn't "give" or bend when I try to squeeze it.
Do I do okay getting this one?

IMO I would pass. Since it's made with polyster, essential oils could melt it.

Does anyone know where/how I might investigate this particular material's resistance to lye? Is there like a "plastics headquarters" site that would have reliable info?

I searched for the name and came to Eastman's web site. They had another link to click on for more info. According to that info, this product is resin based. If that's true, then lye water might etch the resin over time. I also went to online Big Lots, Food For Less, Target, Ralph's and Walmart. Not much info there either.

Sounds like a container I used at my parents place, not 100% sure if its the same material or not though. Mine ended up with a sticky kind of melted surface from the lye. I threw it out and changed to glass, then I changed again to stainless steal.

Your vita mix is dying? How sad. We just got our first one and have fallen in love with it! Did you know they now make one that has a pulse feature and is squat enough to fit under the counter? We do not have that one since it came out just after we got ours.
Now as for soap... I am sure it would reach trace in say.... 5 seconds and by the time you got it out of the blender already set up and maybe cured ?

Yes, it still works most of the time, but overheats sooner than it should. I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of time until it doesn't turn on. We did send it back once to get "fixed", but it wasn't much different when they returned it to us and it's almost out of warranty. Combo of tax refund and Mother's Day made hubby suggest just going ahead with a new one, so I'm jumping on the wagon . If I buy through them I can get turn in my old one for $100 credit towards a new one, but they are currently out of stock with the one I want (how can that be????). One of my favorite uses is to blend cooked onions and garlic into the broth that I'll make soup in. That way it has tons of flavor, but the younger children have no idea that the broth is chock full of immune-building goodies that they "think" they don't like
Yes....soap in there would be a QUICK process, wouldn't it??!! And probably a bit painful, trying to get out those last pieces at the bottom near the blade......
