Boy this thread was hard to title as I'm not too sure how to explain exactly what I'm wanting to do lol. Hope I make some sense...

Right, so, with C&P soap, you can create say a rose soap and then 'glue' it onto the top of a loaf with some melted clear soap. Or even when the soap layers are still setting, you can use the rubbing alcohol.

What tricks are needed if I wanted to do this with CP soap? Say for example I have a lizard shaped cookie cutter here. I want to make a thin layer of CP soap and use the cutter to cut out lizard shapes in light green. I then want to make dark green bars of soap, and after they are set, I want to 'glue' this light green lizard on to each bar.

So... if that makes sense, some questions:

- 1) What can I use for the glue between the two pieces?
- 2) How long a time frame can be had between making the lizards and making the soap? Do they need to be attached while still somewhat soft? Or can I do it a couple of days after?

I have done some decorations on top. I have waited but think the sooner the better. There really is no glue... once you make a batter and pour, place the decore on top and then I would advise forcing gel. Now this is last part about forcing gel is not if you are adding M&P decorations on top.... sometimes my gel stage will hit 140 degrees.... this would melt that M&P soap.
Can you press those lizards in just a millimeter or two, or would that distract from the design?

I had some MP embeds warp from the heat of the batter before the soap solidified, that batch didn't even gel! I had just mixed it and poured, so was probably around 100*F.

I only work with M&P on occassion. I know you pour at about 120 degrees so that is my cut off point. Now if I am swirling with M&P in CP then it does not matter to me... but if I have a shape I want it to maintain, like I just did with my blueberries, then I either chill it or leave it uncovered on the counter.

Looks like I'm going to have to have a play and test. I've struggled to find much on the interwebs about it as everyone seems to use M&P to do their decorations and such.

I would make the green soap in a slab mold and add the lizards on top (mark your mold so you know where to put them) as soon as the soap underneath is thick enough to support it. Gently push the embed into the top slightly so it stays.

So this is what I see as a concern:

if the lilypads sit on top of 'water' and then the frogs sit on top of the lilypad how do they all stay together. I believe you can get them to stay together but once being used I would be thinking they are going to come apart quickly. Make them from the top down so that you can imbed each layer a little bit together. For my first try I would want to do the layers no more than 3 days apart so I have fairly fresh soap. If I am embedding deep into the soap I have used a piece that is upwards of a month old.

These were done with trees I embeded that were a month old. I looking forward to seeing your photos!
