Teach Soap

I ran out of all my palm and coconut oils I am waiting for them to come in) but are there any recipes anyone has that you don't need these. I am probably asking a stupid ? because all the recipes I have seen call for these two ingredients. And I have to make soap, i just have too...lol

I just made a cocoa butter soap with olive oil, lard, cocoa butter and castor oil.
Lard is a great sub for palm if you don't mind animal based fats.

Or you can just do a 100% olive oil soap.

Make castile with 100% olive or bastille with olive and castor.

Thank you so much for suggestions. Is there anything that you can substitute palm and coconut oil with? I do have about an oz left of each...any small recipes...very small...LOL I am going to make the Castile soap though.

I don't use palm, but babasu can be subbed for the coconut oil.

what oils/butters DO you have? that may be an easier place to start!

if you want to go shopping, pick up some shortening or lard! then make some soaps!

I have, Olive oil pomace,castro oil, aloe vera gel, cocoa butter, shea butter, sweet almond butter,soy bean oil, foaming bath butter,merunque powder, sls, cream of tarter and extra virgin olive oil and jojoba oil and glycerin.

Also i have been looking for a recipe that is 100% olive oil recipe for a baby but i can't find one...it always has another oil in it. If anyone would like to share and would that mean it is all natural, my friend is having a baby but is only going to use organic all natural everything. any recipes out there?

Great! thank you all. now i have a ? for soapbuddy....is there a reason you use babasu instead of palm? Is it better for you or does it just make your soap come out better, personnel preference? Tell me buddy...lol

Many soapers don't use palm because the companies that harvest it are razing the trees that house orangutangs. Also, babassu isn't a sub for palm, but makes an adequate sub for coconut oil. It's kind of expensive (to me), so I don't buy it.

It's very easy to develop a palm free recipe. Go to soapcalc and input a recipe with palm. Note down the fatty acid profile of the soap and its cleansing/conditioning/lathering, etc properties. Then play around with different proportions of oils until you get numbers that you like. Then try it out and see how you like it. It's kind of fun, really.
