Teach Soap

Has any one ever used this for a deet free option for bug repellant? I was looking around and found that you can use it in body mist to keep bugs away, has anyone experimented with this? What did you think?

Citronella is best in candles, not on the skin. EOU used to have a blend called Lemon Dream that was an essential oil blend for soaps and bath & body products. I don't make any type of these products to sell as I would be crossing into the OTC (over the counter) drug category.

I have used it but way too strong I use lemongrass eo at 1% and it works for me in sprays mixed with witch hazel and my furry friends in dog shampoo. As far as I am concerned no eo is safe for cats. I put strict usage labels and warning on all my eo products.

I make a MP doggie soap for my brother (for his dog, not actually FOR my brother) with just a touch of citronella. He bathes his dog once a week and claims to love it, but he is my big bro, so he could just be humoring me....

I've heard that catnip has repellent properties, but I haven't tried it.

Catnip essential oil is getting a lot of new press recently, but has anyone noticed the PRICE?? its rather expensive.

I have found this mix of oils, given to me by a master herbalist that I used worked for, works quite well and you can put it into lots of leave on products. The geranium and chamomile are expensive as well, but you only need a few drops of each. I can try to find the exact recipe and get back with #of drops per 2 oz carrier.

Egyptian geranium, roman chamomile, lavender, and pennyroyal.

I had luck last year with cedarwood and clary sage in a spritz bottle.

All EO companies will tell you not to put these oils directly on your skin because of liability issues, some of us have come to know that you can safely use some directly on your skin. However, through my own personal experience, I would NOT put citronella on your skin AT ALL.
