Teach Soap

According to (US) The International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, here is what it says. There is no mention of glycine max. I did a search for it, but nothing came up. Maybe it's listed that way as a plant, but not as a B&B ingredient.

GLYCINE SOJA 8001-22-7 232-274-4
Soybean oil. Extractives and their physically modified derivatives. It consists primarily of the glycerides of the fatty acids linoleic, oleic, palmitic and stearic. (Soja hispida, Leguminosae) emollient

GLYCINE SOJA 91770-67-1 294-853-8
Soybean oil, nonsaponifiable fraction. The unsaponifiable fraction of soybean oil emollient

Glycine max sp. is the wild, non genetically modified, soja species. It is getting decently hard to find in its natural state as the pollen from the farmed variety adds the mutated genes to the wild stock. You wouldn't find Glycine max in a store, even an organic store. The genetically modified plant has been grown for decades and was modified naturally via selection (just an fyi, no man made genes or weird animal genes!).

Yep, it can be hard. Many plants have multiple names for slight genetic differences. Take canola and rape, same plant, one can be toxic while the other is in most prepared foods and most kitchens.

The most frightening thing about this thread is the op doesn't have a basic understanding of a basic ingredients, ie shea butter is a basic, or how to configure her own recipe. Makes one wonder about the lye safety, the safety of the fragrances and how they are used and not to mention sanitation issues. No wonder the legislative bodies want to get into our business with attitudes like this.

This type of rush to sell attitude really diminishes the industry, and everyone who has put in the time and effort as well as study and experimentation. I hope this op has liability insurance. Insurance is a necessity for a reason, and I wonder if she lives at home and her parents understand the liabilities there for them?

KatieWhite----went to your website to look around, but as soon as the page opened I think it tried to download something to my computer. Is this normal? I had some other sites open on my computer, so I don't know for certain that it was your site.
If it was your site, could you tell me what it was going to download? I closed out the download screen as soon as I saw it, as I'm super-concerned about unwanted material on my computer, so I never even saw what it was that I closed out .
Let me know either way, as I'm curious!

Just means that she has a video posted that requires a certain bit of code to play. Its actually decently normal to have sites download these little bits of code when needed. Nothing to worry about at all.

If you've okayed it to download an earlier version of the same update it doesn't ask again. Or your internet explorer settings could be set to allow such things to download automatically.

That said if you do happen to have an unwanted file type start to download your virus scanner should nab it right away and send you an alert. If you don't have a virus program check out Microsoft Security Essentials (no worries about viruses if you have a mac). Its free and its made to work with windows. Its what I use
