How do you label your soaps? I have been thinking of having a sinple sticker I can put on the packaging, but have no clue where to start. I have Print master on my computer and have been trying to figure it out. Is something like this sufficient to make labels? Is there a better way? I would really appreciate some help with this, I want to be able to put our name and other info on my soaps.

I put the name of the soap on the front along with weight. The same label has the ingredients on the back. If PrintShop is similar to Print Master, you could do that.

I ordered product label stickers from VistaPrint with a blank space where I hand write in the product name, under that I have business name/address/phone number (if I had a website I'd put that there too). On the back I have just a plain Avery label with weight, price, ingredient list.

For Avery labels, Office Max or Office Depot usually carry a wide selection although you might find them cheaper somewhere online.

Onlinelabels.com and labesbythesheet.com can send you samples.

Avery has a website (avery.com) with online software to design all kinds of stuff.

Many years ago now, I got a CD in a package of Avery labels for something called DesignPro, which is what I use for the majority of my labels. I upgraded my computer a year or so ago, and the most current version of that software doesn't play well with Windows 7, or so I'm told. So I've still got my clunky old computer with all my labels on it.

If you buy labels from online.com, they also have an in-house software that is tailored to fit some of their more unusually sized labels.

For smaller labels I use Avery 5160 (address labels) and Microsoft Publisher or Word (both have templates). Be sure to get either laser or ink jet depending on your printer. It does make a difference. I tried some clear circle labels that I ordered from somewhere - but they are hard to read.

Hope this helps!

I agree about the clear labels. I thought it would be nice, but no as ginamarie said they are hard to read. Now I am just using up what I have. I have purchased avery labels at walmart.... but have not done the leg work to price compare :(

Not sure what kind of look you are going for, but I ordered both labels and non-adhesive sheets of craft paper from (pretty affordable, and they also have pre-perforated sheets of soap cigar bands and templates for all their products), along with a custom self-inking stamp from an Etsy seller with my information plus a line for writing in fragrances. I print ingredients on the paper and cut them into cigar bands (with a $15 paper cutter from WalMart) and use the labels for my jars and such. I am terrible at deciding on images and fonts and don't have the patience for redesigning and printer adjustment, so that works really good for me so far!

To me, labeling and packaging is the most stressful part of soapmaking. It always puts me in a bad mood, hehe. :x
