Teach Soap

I need something called pennyroyal leaves, dried. I didnt see them on BB, not sure where to look. I need them for my Citronella soap I want to make. Are they really needed, or can I leave them out?

You can probably leave them out. Unless you want to infuse an oil with the leaves?

What else is in the recipe? Turkish Pennyroyal is commonly used as a mosquito repellent.

Its for a soap for dogs if that makes a difference.

Please don't take offense, but if you've not started making soap yet (as you mentioned in another thread), PLEASE don't begin with animal soaps. Their skin is different to ours, their sense of smell is so much better, etc. You need to spend at least 6 months working with your soaps, perfecting your recipe, knowing how they work, handle, last, etc.

I love handmade soap and recommend it to just about everyone. In this instance a commercial pet shampoo that's uncolored and unscented would work better since it's a lower pH then handmade. You could make a syndet shampoo bar. That has a lower pH. Swift Crafty Monkey has one on her blog.
