I just bought some unrefined Shea Butter to use while experimenting in CP soap. But my daughter has eczema so I'd like to explore options for mixing it up with other goodies for healing plus it would be fun to explore what else I can do with it if I should ever start selling my soap. What are other common things people here make with Shea? I plan to read up on whipped shea butter but are there any other popular ways of using it in toiletries? I just need to know what categories there are so I will know how to do a search on the forum.

Thanks!
zeo

Try a plain unscented lotion bar.

1/3 shea butter
1/3 liquid oil
1/3 wax

I use unrefined shea in the first range of creams we produced: hand cream, face cream, and our 'rescue' cream which is specifically for small wounds, burns and bruises. It contains a lot of vitamin A which will fade photo-age spots dramatically and really gives a nice silky feeling to the skin. It's about 4% of our formulations.

You could use your e-wax to turn your shea butter into a lotion/cream. Beeswax is found easily enough at Micheals or Hobby Lobby and can be used to make your shea into a lotion bar or a lip balm. Also you may be able to use shea to make a bath melt that would make the bath water moisturizing. For many recipes you can substitute butters with other butters and oils with other oils so keep that in mind =).

I make bath melts, but don't use beeswax in them. Beeswax needs a higher temp. Bath water is not normally hot enough to melt the beeswax.

This is a link to the bathmelts that Lush sells to give you an idea of what kinds of things you could put in them/do with them.
Simplest bath melt: Cocoa butter =)
You can also add citric acid/baking soda so it fizzes and dissolves better (also makes it a little more solid).
And you could make one with cocoa butter and shea butter (sounds amazing) and the citric acid/baking soda.
Recipe to start with:
3/4 c baking soda, 1/4 c citric acid
and then 8 oz of butters (1/2 cocoa butter, 1/2 shea butter)
Heat butters until melted, cool slightly, add fragrance, mix in dry ingredients and pour soupy mix into ice cube molds, let solidify, pop in freezer right before you take them out of the molds for easy release.
HAVE FUN!

I tried this recipe last night with a little peppermint, grapefruit, and lime eo's. They turned out nicely, think I will next time just try adding the butters a small amt at a time to the dry ingredients for a dryer product more like their (LUSH) marshmallow floats. Thank you for posting it!

Oops, I thought I responded to this already. I'm sorry. This sounds amazing and I definitely plan to give it a try. Need to get supplies first. Thank you blissfulblends for being generous with your recipe!

I've been chewing this over and think it might make a really good product for sale to the jacuzzi sector of the market, and also as a spa item. I'm certainly going to try it, I already have all the ingredients.
