Teach Soap

It depends on your recipe. I use tube molds that I stick in the freezer, then run hot water over the outside to make it easier to get out.

I have to say that was quite the learning experience! A challenge from beginning to end. I checked the soap before church this morning and it was still warm. I unwrapped it and found that the mold had sort of bulged and warped a bit. So I left it for later as I didn’t have time to mess with it. When we got home I tried a few times to push the soap from the mold by using a broom handle and a piece of wood that fit inside the mold pretty well. I was thinking that the bulge may be a problem with getting it out and that stuff was not budging for anything. So I remembered someone saying to put it in the freezer. So I did that for 3 hours and then took it out and let it set for 15 minutes. I asked my daughter Katy to help me to push the soap out of the mold. We pushed, pulled and pushed some more. I really didn’t think it was going to come out and would have to cut it out…I really didn’t want to do that. So I tried one last time. I wedged the broom handle at the baseboard where it meets the floor and pushed with everything I had when my daughter yelled, “It’s coming!â€

I think that came out pretty good! Have you thought of using sodium lactate to make a harder bar sooner?

Thanks JessyV. I hope to get them better for next time. There are a lot of bars that are not shaped like this one...they are more round on one side. It's ridiculous looking actually. I think I might be able to trim them though.

And I apologize to all for my lengthy narrations. It's the Irish storyteller in me. I like to paint a visual picture for you all.
