OK, I know this one may sound weird, but my sister won't use any of my soaps because she says that she doesn't like that squeaky
feeling she gets after using home made soaps (yes, there have been plenty of funnies at her expense for that comment  )
I was trying to explain that that was a good thing, since it's not leaving any residues on your skin (?) like the commercial soaps, but what exactly causes that?
I've given her a salt bar to try, but she has really sensitive skin and didn't really like that one either. Basically, this means more soap for the rest of us...but in the spirit of a good challenge, is there a way to make you not so "squeaky clean" with CP soap? I was wondering about adding glycerin???

I don't get a squeeky feeling from my soap either. How much are you superfatting?

It's not a stripping-type of squeaky, just a very clean feeling...I've actually stopped using lotion after my showers :D and have not experienced dry skin (this coming from a 20yr die-hard lotion fan!). That's kinda how I test my soaps on myself...
I usually make my soaps at a 5% superfat; the main recipe I use is:
Olive Oil
Coconut Oil
Castor Oil

But I've experimented with just about every other oil I can get my hands on!

CP soap makes it's own glycerin. I don't think adding more would make any difference.
Since she has really sensitive skin, could she be allergic to coconut oil?
I know one of my clients is.

She might just not want to use handmade soaps. Family members can be strangely resistant to using our lovingly-made creations!

I know why this is - years ago when Grandma made "LYE" Soap she used any old fat she had hanging around the farm house and used Lots and Lots of lye in it.
Some times it was used for laundry and even washing floors and hands after Grandpa fixed the farm equipment too. It was strong stuff!
You could lovingly tell your Mom and Aunt that you have much more information about exact measurements and ingredients than Grandma ever did and that your soap is formuated to be gentle.
When made correctly there is no lye left in your soap after it has cured. Grandma's soap was probably very lye heavy.

its the same crazy recipe that we used in chemistry class. I wish we had had a soaper teaching chemistry and would've used it as a learning opportunity. (No instead I got the guy who was 30 years late for retirement in his last semester before he retired i didn't learn a thing).
