The bottle I bought is in soaps form and each is 400 IU. Is that a good amount of whatever IUs are? Is one pill size overkill?

I don't understand your post. You say the bottle is in a soaps form? So you are using this for soap? What type of soap? If it's for CP, vit E will mostly get eaten by lye.
If it's for MP, 1 400IU per 8 ozs. of soap should be sufficient, but it's more for a label appeal, since soap is a wash off product and doesn't stay on the skin long enough.
Vit E. would be best used in a lotion or cream as it stays on the skin.

IU's are international units. Usually vit E is a viscous liquid inside of a capsule. The capsule is able to be punctured and the vit E squeezed out. I do not use vit E in any of my soaps.

I buy Vit. E by the bottle. I always add a few drops to the oils of my soap before blending. I have never had trouble with DOS since I started adding Vit. E to my soaps. If you bought capsules, then just squeeze the contents of one or two capsules into the mixture.

I'm sorry my post didn't make much sense. I was extremely over tired when I wrote it. I think i mean to say I'm using it in soaps but that would be obvious...haha I don't know I was extremely tired and had no idea I wasn't making any sense. I just wasn't sure which IU is meant for soap and what IU even meant for that matter and which number of IU is best or which one is overkill.

I forgot I actually did get it for making lotions not soaps. Wow I'm sorry I just got laid off and am trying to continue my soap business and I have so many ideas at once so thank you all for answering! I'm that much closer so narrowing down what I need the most and how to go about it. Also...what is DOS? (it's in an answer above).

DOS is Dreaded Orange Spots. It's when the oils go rancid in soap and orange spots appear. The soap can also smell bad. Like this.

I have some vitamin E already mixed in the other oils I have so I guess I'll skip on adding even more. Moving/ car accident made me a bit scatter brained. Thank you everybody.
