Need to sanitize new Ball jars for storing herbs and coffee

They are brand new in plastic wrap and closed lids. Do I have to wash them all and then put them in a 5% bleach water solution? Or do I just open them and use them?

Just open them and use them. Do not wash them first in any way.

Thank you! When they are empty again should i clean them out even if putting the same product in?

If they have the rubber in the cap how do I sanitize them? 5% bleach solution?

I'm a little OCD when it comes to sanitizing. I would take the previously used rubber seals and place them in a pan of water which you bring to a gentle boil for about 10 minutes. Then remove them with a clean utensil or tongs and place in a warm oven (170F US) on a clean cookie sheet lined with a paper towel until completely dry.

I would not use bleach as over time it will deteriorate the rubber.

OK thank you! So do this with the entire bottle including the top or do the bottle with the bleach solution and just the top this way?

I thought people still did that! Everyone I know has babies now except me so I guess I never learned anything different and just assumed it was the same way... I wonder how it's done now. Eh, doesn't matter, I don't have baby things! haha.

I have seen people using the plastic disposables with tap water and powdered milk. Seems risky to me but then I haven't kept up with how the newest generation of parents does this.
