Teach Soap

Can someone please tell me what is the shelf life of Brambleberry's m&p bases before using them? Also, what would the shelf life be of a finished bar of soap? I'm assuming it depends on what FO or additives go in it?

I'm so glad you asked this because I have been wondering the same thing. I bought some almost 3 years ago and it's never been opened. Would like to know if I can still use it.

Yeah, when I place my first order I plan to order a couple different types of bases (but of course won't use them all at once). So I'd like to know how long they will hold up.

I asked this question a while back and it seems that the general guideline is that the soap should be used or sold within a year. After that, it's possible the soap could dry out or lose its scent.

That said, I have some base that is over a year old, more like a year-and-a-half or two years. The bases have been stored in plastic bags and protected from extreme temperatures. They seem fine and I plan on playing with them soon. I don't sell my soaps anymore, though. I just make them for personal use. I might be more concerned about freshness if I were selling. I don't think the soap goes "bad," per se. I may just lose some of its quality over time.

Recommended time is one year after purchase, however after that it doesn't necessarily go bad, just loses some qualities. More info is here;
