Interesting, thank you. My mother used to use onions or tea for beige or tan colors.

That is pretty much how we dyed Easter eggs as kids. We were too poor for my mom to buy the "fancy" dyes.

For green, we used dill. For purple we used blackberries that we had canned the summer berfore. For orange, we used canned tomato juice.

I never do it that way with my kids. We always use store bought colors. I think this year we'll do it the "all natural" way

I also found this page while doing research on natural colorants. One of my concepts is tradition and it was neat to find such a study done on natural colorants...and of course, eggs seem to be the go to test animal.

I just love the colors!
