Hello All,

I dont know if I did CPOP correctly, here is what I did....I got the lye and oils almost the right temp for each,I then got it to thick trace, put it in the oven for 2.5-3 hours covered it but it never gelled.I shut the oven off and let it cool over night and it was hard so I cut it this morning. If it didnt gel am I suppose to let it sit and cure for how long?

Thanks,
Countrypumkin
Shannon

Hi Shannon! It may have gelled and you didn't notice it. Sometimes my CPOP will gel after I've given up on it.
CPOP soap still needs to cure for 4 weeks, just like regular CP. All CPOP really does is force gel (and that doesn't always happen)

It doesn't matter if it's thin or heavy trace. You can do CPOP with either. Sometimes gel just doesn't happen. Don't worry about it. 8)

Don't worry, even if your soap did not gel - it will still be great soap! It may zap for a few days before the saponification is complete, but it would need 4-6 weeks of curing anyways. There are some benifits to not gelling soap... so you may end up liking this soap!

"Hydrogenated vegetable oil" is the proper name for shortening.

I usually use canola oil, olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil,shea/cocoa butters and castor oil but never shorting....always have to try something new...
Also I want to incorperate some goats milk,do I add that to trace or in lye soluation without turning it a red color?

I posted that for ease of searching, not as the ingredient name. Just wasn't very specific... oops!
