Teach Soap

The title says it all! My palm oil is VERY high in sterate. It looks like curdled milk when you melt it. No matter how high I get the darned stuff it never seems to melt all of the sterate. My GM & EO batch will most probably have sterate spots, this I can live with, but would prefer not to! I believe the company I got my palm oil from didn't properly mix their barrel before separating it. My entire container is super heavy on sterate Can I melt it and then strain it to remove the excess?

Could you melt it all, mix it very, very well, portion off into smaller containers then let it cool? If the palm oil has a lot of extra stearic, it can accelerate trace.

It is in a pretty small container that I microwave then thoroughly mix before use. The entire thing is very heavy with sterate. When I melt it I'd say its 50% oil and 50% unmelted sterate. I've tried to heat it enough to melt the sterate but I've had it to nearly boiling and it won't melt! Its from a company which I do not believe knows that much about soaping, or their own products for that matter, and I no longer use them.

Sounds like the palm came from the bottom of their drum. Could you buy more and mix the both together?

Probably, but I don't trust the company anymore, I can't be sure its 100% palm. I only have enough left for 1 2lb batch at ~25%, so I don't mind tossing it. Mostly just annoyed at the company! I may melt it and try to strain the sterate and make that 2lb batch, just to see what happens. Not sure if it would be worth risking the other ingredients or not though.

And once those soap gremlins get in your house they sometimes do not want to leave. Can cost you lots of wine, beer and cookies!
