Teach Soap

Sooo I don't like using plastic wrap on my soaps, it just doesn't seem to work for me! Plus I do textured tops sometimes. So I had to come up with a way to drape a towel over the loaf without disturbing the soap. And her it is! It is a 4" PVC coupling cut into half one way, then half the other way (so you get 4 even slices). It works great! I will be gluing these "skeletons" together with dowels for more stability after I move.

That is an awesome idea! Improvising until I can afford a "proper" log mold, I'm using plastic shoe boxes, and I put an empty one upside down over one with an ITP swirl in it that got a little close to the top last night, but I lined them up perpendicular at first, and left marks They'll be hardly noticeable when I cut the soap up, but still . . . . Great idea

Excellent Heather. When I do my individual molds it does not matter because it is the bottom of the soap, but like you said if the top is textured then you want that towel to be raised off of the soap. Will have to see what I can do for myself.

Sometimes A Mistake is so much fun, You just have to do it again!

I just lay pieces of cardboard cut to fit ontop of the molds then drape a towel over that.

My soap is pretty even with the top of the mold, so I had to come up with something that would lift the towel up.

Great idea!

I use a cardboard box that is slightly taller than my soap mold and invert over my mold. Then I insulate on top of that. Your set up looks very elegant.

Its kind of funny, this is the simplest way I could think of. Never thought of an inverted box LOL My first idea was to build a scaffold type thing-a-ma-jigger with dowels or skewers. My brain seems to go toward the odd and unusually.. plus it likes to complicate things. A lot.
