I was playing around last weekend with m&p and cocoa powder. Most recipes and suggestions that I have found on the web have said you should use a tsp or so. I actually used a several tbsp or so, I just kept adding until it got to what I wanted, I didn't measure it at the time. Although, in the next batches I do, I will measure better so I have an accurate recipe. Does anyone know if this will cause any issues long term? My soap has turned out just fine and it's exactly what I wanted, great brown colour and nice scent. So far, after 5 days, I'm not seeing any problems with it whatsoever and I am extremely happy with it. I have used it and it seems just fine to wash with. Do you think I have any need to worry? Has anyone else added lots of cocoa before? Did you notice any colour changes over time?

The more powder you add the more chance that it will discolor a wash cloth or create brown drips in a soap dish. If I want brown, I use either a scent with a vanilla content or a mixture of green and red to get brown.

Yeah, I wouldn't use too much cocoa because I'd hate a brown streak on my washcloth (eww!).
When I use cocoa powder, I use about a tsp per lb. It does seem to darken over time.

Thanks Soapbuddy and Genny, that is definitely true and I was fully expecting that! Although surprisingly, it does not drip near as much colour as I had thought it would! I have had cp or other m&p that I have bought over the years with spices and other additives that have made a much bigger mess than this one. I definitely wouldn't add this much with every kind of soap I make, but it seems to work ok with this particular bar.
