Hi all,
I've seen pictures of CP soap on a few different sites and I envy the look of some. My CP soap turns out fine, but they have a mottled characteristic.
Is it because I gel my soaps, or is it a question of the types of oils I'm using? I use - Olive, castor, coconut & lard.
Can anyone tell me how I can acheive a smooth more opaque and creamy characteristic to my soaps?

I don't use castor, but I know it contributes to transparency in soap. It might have something to do with the mottled appearance.

Also, stirring briskly and thoroughly is important. You might be getting lumps forming in your soap that are coming out as uneven color/texture in your final bars.

Soapbuddy thanks so much again,
I just cut my cranberry fig bars - my first batch ever NOT GELLING! Yes, this is exactly the look i was waiting for!! Love the smooth, creamy look.
Question - Never having used this approach before - i worry about saponification. The bars do not heat up to complete saponification. How do I know they will completely saponify?
When testing for ZAP in the past i have never had a stingy feeling, but i do get a yucky taste, how can you tell it there is ZAP - is it an unmistakable thing that maybe i have just not experience yet?

I have yet to try it, but have been told that it is kind of like liking a battery. You should feel a definite zap.
Maybe someone else who has actually done this can chime in too.

I seem to not be able to understand the not gelling part. How do you not gel? I have wooden molds and when I pour the soap in, I cover it and let it cool naturally. Is that gelling? I can't seem to find any thing that tells me the difference. Thank you.
