I saw some similar to Soapbuddy's model on Ebay, now I worry if it really is that one or the new cheaper version...Good thing I waited to order.

Don't get me wrong - I have the silver one and it works just fine! It's just not as nice as the old model was.
I've had no problems with it at all.

You could contact the seller and ask them if it's the scale shown or the newer model.

Escali defineately makes an awesome scale but it only measures to .1 oz.

I make smaller batches (usually less then 1.5 lbs of oils) so wanted something that would measure to .05 oz. I picked one up at Target for $30 that seems to be holding up well after 4+ years. The only problem with one that measures to .05 is that it gets out of calibration easily if it gets bumped or dropped. I purchased some calibration weights that I found on ebay for a couple of bucks and test it every so often to make sure it's still accurate. No problems so far.
