Nice color on that alkanet swirl Mellifera! Mine ended up eggplant purple.

That's beautiful Mellifera!! Its neat how the alkanet varies in colour so much, I wonder what it is in the soap that causes this. Perhaps a specific type of fatty acid chain or something. I sense a future experiment!

Thanks! It came out well. I added a citrus EO blend, which goes nicely with the oils, oatmeal, honey, and beer. I think it's a guy soap!

I took the color experiment batches and cut them into chunks and grated them and put them in as embeds(which had Lavender EO) and then added Orange and Peppermint EO's(that was the Blend Lavender, Orange and Peppermint).

My idea was to make it a "white" soap(not thinking that the orange EO would turn it- ) Anyway...It's kind of a light yellow now. It zapped OUCH, but just took it out of the mold yesterday(made it on Tues). So will wait to see if it still zaps in a day or two.

Heres a couple of batches Ive made over the past few nights, as usual, any comments welcome

No.1 :




Against all advice (typical male!), this was my high-conc-soft-oils plus rose absolute dilution. It cut really well, but as suggested, only a delicate rose aroma.

No.2 :


Sorry - no cut piccies of this one... Its a shampoo bar, EO'd with lemon, peppermint and ginger...

No. 3 :




Lemon, rosemary and bergamot EO, recipe :
olive - 25%
palm - 20%
coconut - 20%
shea B - 20%
macadamia B - 10%
castor - 5%


Toodlepip for now, I have to go and collect son from nursery
