So, all 3 loaves I'e done in actual soap molds have had issues. 2 have had an oily liquid on them and even coming out of them, and all 3 have had odd looking tops or crusty edges. Both that I covered with plastic look odd on top and have been the ones with the leaking issues. None have zapped. Here are a couple pictures of the latest batch, lemon cake. A close up of the tops and the leaking, this time from between the 2 layers. This is the first time I've had internal leakage! Both batches that had the "leaks" were gelled. The liquid feels oily, but seems decently water soluble, I'm guessing its glycerin. Is there anything I can do to stop this? The soap seems fine, but this is soo annoying!

Looks like it overheated.

I wondered if that was it, it did get pretty hot and started to liquidize again. Should still be fine though, yes? And... Thanks Irena!!

You're welcome. Leave it be for now and see if the liquid absorbs back in since it doesn't zap. Most likely it's the glycerin seeping out.

Does using TD in glycerin, and other colours also in glycerin, affect whether or not glycerin will seep out? A kind of over glycerin-ing?

 ....Not funny that you had an issue with this batch, but because glycerin has become a verb.

The first batch that had a seeping issue was about 1-1.5 tsp in 4 lbs. This one was.. uhh.. *ahem* 1.5-2 tbsp in 2 lbs. I had an oops.

Yeah, got distracted while pouring my TD. My fault for soaping with the dogs in the room!

Most of the leaking has stopped now, except that one spot I did a close up of, it's still a little moist looking. I figure in a couple more days it will be much better.

When you have more than one additive, it can be hard to tell which is the culprit. You might try one variable at a time to see which is causing the problem.

Where are you in PEI? I visited there several years ago. Lupines, mussels, lighthouses, the Cheese Lady, potatoes, rolling green hills, red sand beaches...LOVED it!!! (Except for the mosquitoes. OMG)
