GiantOlive, I really like the way you use color and the way you photograph your soap. It makes me want to buy a bar!

Very nice giantolive! I have never had castor accelerate trace, but cinnamon that I have. Some fragrances, especially the floral ones seriously accelerate trace. If you stick blender is adding lots of bubbles, try a narrower but taller container and make sure that the lower portion of the stick blender is submerged. Use it on and off and use it as a manual stirrer in between.

Thanks!

Susie: I'm trying to get this recipe to where I want it, so I've been making a lot of soap. After making my salt bars and then the castile last night, I've pretty much run out of oils, so I'll probably post pics of those and then hibernate for a while. It's a good pause point, to review my notes, let the variations on my recipe cure so I can give them a true test and research some things that came up while developing this recipe. I did a similar process after my first month of soaping, taking a break, and found it really allowed me to learn a lot. :)

BAMA: It's like a Rorschach test! One of the bars, the blob looks a little like a flying saucer to me. :D

Linda: I think that is one of the highest compliments I could get. Thank you! No selling for me yet. I'm still trying to get my recipes formulated. :)

Irena: Thanks for the tips. I actually do all those things, but that day I must have not been burping the blender enough. I didn't know castor could accelerate trace until I went looking for info. I usually soap fairly cool so I don't think temps contributed. :)

I cut my muskoka boathouse this morning and was pleasantly surprised! The blue turned out a greeny-blue and not just plain green. The only issue I have is that the top dried very yellow. It'll wash off the first use, so I'm not too worried about it. My pencil line... PERFECT! VERY happy with that! Without further ado.... muskoka boathouse with cocoa powder pencil line! There is a small amount of blue on the top too, I tried to make it look like a wavy ocean, but now its like a wavy ocean with a bunch of pee or some other icky yellow substance! /grrr at the gremlin!

It looks interesting Heather. If your top layer has a fragrance with any vanilla content in it, that could by why the top is oxidizing and turning darker.

It doesn't say anything about vanilla, and it doesn't smell like vanilla. Its also not darker, its BRIGHT yellow. Like pencil paint. I told my fiance its the whale pee in the soap ocean LOL

Heather I like it! I like the green color. To me green and blue always complement each other. I think the yellow is fading, unless that is just the camera lighting. Great job on the pencil line... I intend to do this some day... other soaps just keep getting in the way.
