So if I infuse my base oils with an herbal powder for color, won't some of the powder and especially the straining cloth absorb some of the oil making me lose a few to several grams of oil, making my lye measurement too high? Should I choose 8% superfat instead of 7% to fix this?

Weigh out your oil after infusing and straining. Add the same oil to make up for the difference.
