Teach Soap

I have about 1.5 pounds of soap in a tray that I do not want to toss out. Does anyone have a simple way for me to use this soap that is LYE heavy?

Do you know exactly how much lye heavy it is? If you do, then you can rebatch by adding the missing oil. Using gloves, cut the lye heavy soap into chunks and add them to a crockpot. Then add the missing oil. Let it melt and stir carefully and well. The consistency will be most likely like apple sauce or mashed potatoes.

Hello,

I do not know exactly how heavy in lye I am....I've been reading different things online and I have seem something about goats milk. Is that an option versus adding extra oil(s)?

Also, do you treat the curing time the same way you would a fresh batch?

Goat's milk is tricky at best, I personally wouldn't be adding it into a rebatch given the heat you apply to it

I will stay away from the goats milk.

I just want to create a successful amount of soap without failing so many times....

Great advice! I will continue to mix and document....This was suppose to be fun...I think I am more stressed than anything.

If you don't know how lye heavy the soap batch is, it's going to be hard to rebatch to make the soap mild. You would need to know how lye heavy it is in order to correct it. Why don't you post you next recipe here so we can help you with it?

Wow....You all have been so helpful...I appreciate the advice

I found this recipe that I wanted to use next (since I bought the milk, I do not want it to spoil):

I would need to divide the recipe in half....the one below would make more than I would feel comfortable with.

15 oz. sunflower seed oil, high oleic
15 oz. sweet almond oil
10 oz. avocado oil
10 oz. coconut oil, 76 degree
5 oz. palm oil

I was going to use Goal Milk versus water

Do you know if I can add oatmeal to this recipe?
