Teach Soap

Hi All,
Im rather new to making lotion and i have a wonderful recipe, however it keeps separating when i add my EO and preservative!

My recipe is:
1/4 cup Emulsifier wax
1/4 cup Olive oil
11/4 cup water
30 drops Lavender EO
1% preservative

Everything is going well and my water/oil mix is white and i stir until the mix cools, once the mix is cool i add the EO and Preservative, then it just sits on top of the mix separated. So i have to add more EW.

If anyone can help me out with this i would be greatly appreciative

You cannot go by cups. That's not an accurate measure. You need to go by weight.

HI Irena or anyone else that may be able to help,
I just wanted to see if you have ever made a goats milk moisturiser??

I haven't as yet and im only guessing that i substitute some of the water for the milk??
If so at what %??

Also i noticed you sure Stearic Acid in your moisturiser. Is it only to thicken it? I thought thats what EW does....

Oh Irena,

I have been using your recipe (Thanks for sharing) and both times i have made it the recipe has separated so i've had to tip back into the bowl and add a little more EW.
I have had this problem the whole way along with every recipe. Do you have any suggestions please?

Ideally, your formula should be 100% including your preservative. Which preservative are you using?

Im using Phenoxycethanol caprylyl glycol as my preservative

Manufacturer recommends .75-1.5%
Im using at 1%.
Yes i think i will need to look into another preservative.
Hopefully that will solve my problems
