Post subject: Plastic Mold walls bulging

I have some favorite clear plastic molds. They are one cavity molds, deep and filled hold about 4.5 ounces. After several batches of melt and pour, the sides are bowing-out. I there some way to prevent this. Is my melt and pour too hot and causing this?

At what temp do you fill them? It could be that your soap is too hot.

Hi Irena, thanks for your reply. Sadly, I have not been checking my temp. Not sure what temp it should be. After ruining my molds I certainly will start. Thanks again :roll:

I've found that these molds tend to deform with soap that is poured over 180*F. Not that I would ever pour soap that hot.... :oops:

Now I tend to pour between 125* and 140* my soap won't go cooler than that without congealing.

Hi Heather, I appreciate the temp guidelines. I was in a hurry and I bet I had it too hot. Should have known better. Never checked temp before except with CP which I make more of. I will from now on!
