Teach Soap

Dare I say newbie?! Been researching a lot on the forum and online, always looking for those "east coast connections" and natural aspects! Due to the kiddos in the house, will probably be doing m&p for a while, wouldn't mind attempting rebatch when I learn more about it! Funny because when I first wanted a soap kit I was dead bent on CP - but got talked out of it... got a MP kit for Christmas, burned through what I had to figure out technique and am currently researching the best products I can afford to start my hobby. Wouldn't have the time to think about starting a business, just natural soap for my family and I to use, and probably gifts for my family. From what I've been researching there are a lot of great talents and resources here! Hopefully I have something to share soon!

Brace yourself - the addiction grabs hold. And quick! I was going into this 'affordably' too, my credit card tells a different story.

Don't let having kids put you off CP completely. I have an 18mo and a 4yo and I do CP soap. You just have to do it smartly I make it on the weekends when they're with their dad, or at night after they have gone to bed. I've even started doing some while they are outside playing as it's currently Summer here. It can be done, you just need to be careful, pick your times and be extremely thorough with cleaning up. I make sure I vacuum the entire kitchen and dining area just in case I dropped even 1 piece of Lye.

Oh my gosh....I am in Va Beach too. I looked around for someone local to teach me to make soap (handle lye safely). Haven't found anyone yet. Posted on Craig's List too...nothing. Saw in your profile you are making your own cleaning supplies. Me too...that's what started me on the homemade soap thing. Trying to get my family on board the "no chemicals in the house" boat....long process. My husband will be cringing when my hand sewn reusable paper towels come in the mail next week!
