Teach Soap

I grew up in the Midwest on Lake Michigan. As an adult, I'm now on the east coast. One of my soap products is inspired by beach glass and is really popular back home. I've been talking to a couple of stores who may be interested in carrying my beach glass soap because they think it would be popular among locals and tourists alike.

Besides having a Resale Tax Certificate from the store buying my soap and keeping it on file, does anyone know what other types of legal/tax stuff I may have to go through in order to sell in another state? So far I've just been doing Etsy sales and local craft fairs. I haven't really started into the wholesale thing yet, but would like to.

Do you have a business license? Not sure if you do but this may help, especially at the end of the year or if any auditing of the person's shop happens to occur, this may exonerate you from any legal mishaps. (Does that make sense or even apply?) Have you tried asking the owner of the business or maybe someone that you know who has had this experience or something similar to it that can give you some advice?

I do have a business license and have all of my EID stuff in place. I'm registered as an LLC in VA. It probably wouldn't hurt to ask the people I'm talking to in order to find out what their other suppliers do. Just thought I'd check here to see if anyone else had experience Wholesaling out of state.

It depends in which state. In Florida, MP soap is considered a cosmetic, so it goes under different rules & regs then the rest of the country.
