Bentonite clay, added to any CP soap recipe, gives a wonderful slip to the suds. Absolutely fantastic for a shaving soap and mild enough for just about any skin type. Hubby won't use anything else for shaving now and I love it for shaving my legs.

Kaolin clay is one of the most gentle clays around. It is extremely fine. I whisk in about a teaspoon per pound of oils into the soaping pot before I incorporate my lye mixture.

Armi, remind me and I will send you a bit of kaolin to play with.

I use clays fairly often - they nake a denser lather, IMO. Want a really decadent soap? Use coconut milk and clay togther. To die for!
