While I am, of course, designing to maximise shelf life, rancidity problems worry me, because our climate here is quite extreme, very hot most of the year. Is it worth adding an antioxidant, do you think, such as grapefruit seed extract? I noticed that commercial HP soap has EDTA, which I could also add if desirable; it's a routine component in skin care products.

I would go with ROE (Rosemary oleoresin extract) instead of the grapefruit seed extract. Lots of the grapefruit seed extracts are adultarated with Trichlosan, which a lot of people are allegic to.

I had no idea. Yeah, I wouldn't want trichlosan in my soap!
