Teach Soap

Hello guys need some help please. I am to open a store next month and found out that in Florida I cannot make lotions, etc., in my new location or my home. I have now for years sold these products via my website and home parties and have never been told this before as I had permits and was licensed and insured. I have a lease until the end of July 2012 and 50% of my product line is solid lotions, whipped body butters and massage candles, etc. I need to find a wholesaler that I can trust that uses top quality ingredients that would be willing to sell to me with “their” label and ingredients as that is what is required for me to sell these products this way in Florida. I think that this forum as a teaching and learning forum the responses should be here for everyone to benefit from. Like who sells nice bulk lotion/conditioners etc.

That said, if you need a certified commercial kitchen to work in you might try local churches. Several in my area have certified commercial kitchens to work in and they rent them out.

Thanks Mella, I only asked to contact me via email because it really is that type of forum and I did not want to continue to bother everyone with any responses I may get. As for sharing a cert kitchen that is also not allowed in Florida as I contacted the State and was told so. So I would need a private location and approx. $1500.00 in permit and license fees per year and approx. $1000.00 to register my labels, etc., not to mention the rent and over head (was sharing a store space and splitting the rent). I was not expecting all of this right now. I have found a solution for now. I am going to out-source the manufacturing and labeling of my products (other than soap) to another State (NY a fellow crafter) which should allow me to by-pass all of the above for the time being. I will re-visit this all after having a store for a year and if all goes well I will make the investment of becoming a "manufacture" as the State and Fed gov. consider us now. and move to a store front where I can make my products as well as sell them myself.

Ouch, I'm really sorry to hear that Florida puts such strict restrictions on you. Please let us know how well the outsourcing to another crafter works out for you!!
