I've been using "The Sage" online calculator and have made about 5 batches so far without noticing that I am measuring all my ingredients in metric, but . . . the damn page gives the water usage only in FLUID OUNCES!
So for a 1Kg batch, for example, I saw "250 - 375 fluid ounces" and dissolved the lye, instead, in 300 GRAMS of water. Pretty strong stuff! Lots of steam.
However it does make good soap. One day after turning the soap out and cutting it, the bars are pretty hard. And maybe this is why I have been getting trace in as little as two minutes.
That seems to be an awful lot of water to use in the process... thirty times what I have been using!
